Canoeing Alumni Gathering

On the 25th of October 2024, a momentous occasion took place at NJC as 52 alumni from the Canoeing team returned for the NJC Canoeists Homecoming. These alumni, who graduated between 1995 and 2023, gathered to reconnect with their alma mater, shared their experiences, and interacted with the current NJC Canoeists.

The Homecoming was a special opportunity for past and present athletes to come together, fostering an enriching exchange of stories, advice, and insights. Alumni shared their journeys, recounting the challenges they overcame and the enduring friendships formed through the sport. In turn, current students gained invaluable perspective on how the canoeing spirit at NJC has evolved, and were inspired by the stories of perseverance, teamwork, and camaraderie that have defined the college's canoeing legacy.

A particularly meaningful highlight of the event was how the alumni exemplified the college motto, Service with Honour. Not only did they return to connect with their roots and mentor the younger generation, six of the alumni also joined forces with the current B and A Division canoeists to participate in the  Penang International Dragon Boat Regatta, which was held on the 23rd and 24th of November 2024. This collaboration between past and present athletes demonstrated the spirit of unity and humility that defines NJC's canoeing culture, where alumni continue to contribute and serve alongside the new generation.

The NJC Canoeists Homecoming was a celebration of tradition, community, and the unbroken bond between alumni and current canoeists, leaving everyone involved with a renewed sense of pride and purpose in carrying forward the legacy of being an NJ Canoeing Fighter.
