On the Road Again: Malacca 2017
On the morning of 7 Dec 2016, 4 cars reached Malacca after a 2 and half hour trip. In these cars were 19 of our Alumni EXCO members with their families, and our ex-VP Ms Kwa, for our long-awaited annual motoring holidays. Home for the next 2 nights was at the usual hotel we had gotten used to, which is conveniently located in the town centre, within walking distance of a few major shopping centres.
Tracing back our history of motoring holidays, our first was more than 20 years ago, and we have been to various destinations in Malaysia. These trips are for EXCO members, family and friends to relax and bond, to enjoy each other’s company.
Over the number of times we were in Malacca, we witnessed a sprouting of new hotels and shopping centres. Notwithstanding, Malacca has managed to retain her charm, and was even named a UNESCO Heritage City.
During this trip, fast and furious decisions had to be taken – where to eat in the short time we were there – there are so many good restaurants. At one of the seafood restaurants, we ordered 16 courses per table to try them all, surprising ourselves by finishing all the food. We must have been really hungry after all the walking and shopping. This carried on for the few days while there, and one of us took 4 chendols consecutively from different stalls to decide which tasted best! The food was all good, but what made them better was the unbeatable prices.
At the end of the trip, all cars were loaded to the brim with various buys – everyone will attest to their great value for money.
Above all, the company made the trip so enjoyable that we have already discussing our next trip.
