Want to know how we can provide lighting inside buildings during the day without the use of electricity? Watch this video where Victoria Buckland talks about designing a light guiding system using fibre optic cables to do just that.

Victoria Buckland is currently a Senior High Two student in NJC and a H3 Science Research student at the Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology, A*STAR. In 2015, she was selected for the MOE Overseas Student Attachment Programme where she undertook the above research at the Harvard Jefferson Laboratory under the mentorship of Professor Mara Prentiss. In the same year, Victoria was awarded the 1st Prize in the Chemistry Category at the 2015 Taiwan International Science Fair. When she was in Junior High, she participated in the Moscow Chemical Lyceum – National Junior College Research Exchange Programme.

She is now writing a paper with Dr Alexey Sukhorukov based on her research work done in 2014. Impressive track record for a 17-year-old? Hear her out!
